We still have about two and a half months left in 2021, but paint companies and designers are starting to look ahead to next year, including releasing their top colors for 2022. What colors will be trendy next year? Below is a look at some of the 2022 Colors of the Year.
SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
EVERGREEN FOG (SW 9130)
We’ll admit we have a bit of a soft spot for this one because this was the color we chose for our Farmhouse model home at Liberty Cove @ Day Ranch. Here’s what Sherwin-Williams says about the color and why it is their 2022 Color of the Year: “Evergreen Fog SW 9130 is a versatile and calming hue, a chameleon color of gorgeous green-meets-gray, with just a bit of blue. It’s a simple but sophisticated wash of beautiful, organic color for spaces that crave a subtle yet stunning statement shade.”

HGTV HOME BY SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
ALEUTIAN (HGSW 3355)
The HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams collection went with a blue that is a washed-out indigo color that may remind of faded denim. In announcing the color, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams said, “This cool blue is grounded by the warmth of its red undertone, bridging the gap between the warm and cool tones we are bringing into the home. Aleutian is the foundation of the Color Collection of the Year, perfectly mingling with all colors within Softened Refuge.”

OLIVE SPRIG (PPG1125-4)
Like Sherwin-Williams, PPG also went with a green-gray for its 2022 Color of the Year, saying “After a year of stay-at-home orders and too few IRL (in-real-life) moments in 2020 and 2021, homeowners, designers, architects and facility managers are craving authenticity, nature and meaningful human interaction after living in a mostly digital world. Our 2022 Color of the Year is Olive Sprig (PPG1125-4), an elegant, grounded, versatile and highly-adaptable grey-green. This color represents regrowth in a post-pandemic world and mimics nature’s resiliency.”

BLANCHED THYME, GILDED LINEN, DELIGHTED MOON, LILAC LANE, MOUNTAIN RIVER, ORCHID ASH, GREY SUIT, SUBTLE PEACH, RUSTIC OAK, SUNSET CURTAINS, COUNTRY CHARM, FIRED EARTH
Unlike other paint companies, Valspar didn’t limit themselves to just one color for 2022 – instead they selected “12 trend-worthy and forward-thinking natural shades that evoke warmth, calm and comfort. With this palette, Valspar seeks to empower consumers to think positively about the future while creating spaces in their homes that provide solace and a comfortable feeling in the present.”
BEHR
BREEZEWAY (MQ3-21)
Like many other companies, Behr was going for a color that is calm, relaxing, and rooted in nature for its 2022 Color of the Year, calling Breezeway “a relaxed and uplifting sea glass green expressing peace and tranquility for forward movement.”
According to Behr, Breezeway “naturally harmonizes with shades of white, gray and natural wood tones for effortless style in any room.”
